Fitou is well placed for exploring the beautiful region
of Languedoc Roussillon, with the Mediterranean under 10 mins drive
away, the Pyrenees ski resorts just 1.5 hours and the Spanish border
30 minutes away (Figueres 1 hour / Barcelona 2 hours). The region
boasts 300 days of sunshine a year making it an all year round destination
from which to escape the English rain! |

wine caves situated in the village and surrounding areas – wine
tasting a short stagger from the front door! |

| Restaurants: | There are 4 restaurants in Fitou village, the best,
in our opinion, is Cave d’Agnes, a mere 200 yds from the house.
Vidal’s has an excellent seafood buffet, with impromptu jazz
accompaniment! There is a plethora of restaurants in nearby Leucate
village, La Franqui, Leucate Plage, and of course Perpignan. |

a café/bar, chateau bar & gift shop, bakery and small general
store within a 5-minute walk. In neighbouring Leucate, there is a
Saturday morning market, ‘Shopi’ medium sized supermarket
plus butcher, chemist, banks/cashpoint, post office, surfing &
clothes shops. Carrefour and Intermarche hypermarkets 20 mins. A wide
range of sophisticated shopping can be found in Perpignan (20 minutes),
Narbonne (25 minutes). |

| Further afield: | Long sandy beaches stretch from Bezier to the north
and Collioure to the south, a delightful fishing port and artistic
centre near the Spanish border. Carcassone, Narbonne and Perpignan are an easy drive away as are the picturesque coastal towns of Collioure and Port Vendre. Le Petit Jaune Train:(The Yellow Train) takes you up into the Pyrenees to enjoy the spectacular views |
